Testing Capabilities
To control our key production data, we perform several types of tests on a daily basis. Here are the six main categories :
Testing is done for internal use and/or for customers demands.
Metallography
Metallography is used frequently to evaluate the microstructure of the graphite found in a casting with reference to ASTM A247 standard.
The foundry is equipped with the latest technology in metallurgy analysis systems:
- Sample preparation
- Optical microscopy
- Image acquisition
- Image analysis software

Physical
Test bars are machined and pulled to obtain Tensile strength, Yield and % of elongation under numerous ASTM standards. Hardness of material is verified with another procedure. We can also perform impact testing as per ASTM A327 Standard.
Chemical
Our spectrometer can record % of various types of metallic constituents :
- Carbon (C)
- Silicium (Si)
- Manganese (Mn)
- Sulphur (S)
- Phosphorous (P)
- Nickel (Ni)
- Chrome (Cr)
- Molybdenum (Mo)
- Cupper (Cu)
- Aluminum (Al)
- Lead (Pb)
- Magnesium (Mg)
- Tin (Sn)
- Iron (Fe) (by difference)
To perfectly control the final properties of our castings, spectrometry is routinely done as follow:
- At melting stage into t he furnace
- For final adjustments of the melt
- After the castings have been poured
Non Destructive Testing (NDT)
Whenever NDT are required, the following procedures can be performed. - click on an item to be directed to a reference site.
Functional
This category includes:
- Dimensional inspection

Molding Sand Control
Since the quality of the sand used in the foundry's process is critical, we perform the following tests daily to ensure the highest standards :
- Granulometry
- Lose on ignition
- Strength
- Moisture content
- Compactibility
- Permeability
